Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: How do I register for the science fair as a judge or participant?

Answer: Online registration is available March 1, 2012 at  https://secure.ysf-fsj.ca/sfiab/northernbritishcolumbia/.

Question: Who can participate in the Northern B.C. Regional Science Fair?

Answer: This regional science fair is open to all students in the following geographical area or identified population

School District No.59, School District No.60, and School District No.81, north to the Yukon/B.C. border, east to the B.C. Alberta border.

Question:Where is the Northern B.C. Regional Science Fair being held in 2011?

Answer: The Northern B.C. Regional Science Fair is being held in Fort St. John at North Peace Secondary School.  The address is 9304- 86th street.

Question: Who pays the $15.00 registration fee?

Answer: The school pays the registration fee.

Question: Can I pick up my child and take them out for lunch?

Answer: No, the students must remain on-site from 8:30AM – 5:15PM.

Question: Can I stay the entire day and watch?

Answer: The sponsor teacher will be responsible for the students.  Parents may bring lunch, but public viewing is scheduled from 3:00PM – 4:30PM.

Question: Can I be there while the student is being judged?

Answer: No, the judges need to have one-on-one time with the student while judging.

Question: Can grandparents/family come to visit?

Answer: Yes, public viewing is scheduled from 3:00PM – 4:30PM.

Question: What should I send with my child?

Answer: Students should arrive with lunch, snacks, water bottle (drink) and something to read.

Question: Can students bring IPOD’s or DS games?

Answer: Electronic devices are allowed, however, the school will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

Question: Who can we direct questions to at the fair?

Answer: Volunteers will be available to help answer questions you may have.  They will be wearing t-shirts that are clearly marked “volunteer”.

Question: What happens at the Science Fair?

Answer: Judging, Activities, Awards Ceremony

Question: What time will the Science Fair end?

Answer: Plan on being at the fair until 5:30PM.

Question: Can we set up the night before?

Answer: Yes, you can set up your project from 6:00PM-7:30PM the night prior to the fair.

Question: Can the students purchase lunch at the cafeteria?

Answer: No, students need to remain in the gymnasium of NPSS.  There will be a canteen in the gymnasium for the students.

Question: How are students chosen for the Canada Wide Science Fair?

Answer: Students in grades 7-12 will be judged to determine what projects are at the level necessary for the Canada Wide Science Fair.
